Design Assistant - bags/small leather goods/ luggage

Our client, a luxury brand, is looking for a Design Graduate to join them to support the Design and Development team in the creation of men's and women's accessories, bags and luggage collections.

The successful candidate will have previous design experience, ideally within bag design and development. They will also be creative, innovative and passionate about design.

Experience in leather goods, luggage or bags is ESSENTIAL.

Duties will include

  • Produce detailed specs and design modifications, under the supervision of the Design team
  • Responsible for producing range plan documents and distributing within the business, with full colour CADs and technical details
  • Research trends and innovations within the market to contribute ideas to create items that appeal and excite our target consumers
  • Research and develop understanding of the competition and our target customer
  • Liaise with all departments within the business ensuring all sample needs are met on time, within budget
  • Collate, place and manage sample orders, updating detailed sample tracker
  • Communicate sample status within the business as required
  • Assist in organising samples for press days and photo shoots
  • General administration, co-ordination of travel and maintaining the stationary equipment for the department
  • Manage material library and archive
  • Coordinate and collate all feedback from the sales team for the design team
  • Obtain analysis reports from the 'Returns' to understand product and customer issues with designs. Highlight those that are consistent and ensure these are communicated to the design team and factored into future designs.

Skills/Experience

  • Design graduate essential
  • Creative, innovative, team player, self-starter
  • Previous design experience
  • Experience with bag design & development; Far East production desirable but not essential
  • Skilled in CAD/Illustrator, Photoshop and design presentation skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • A passion for tech an advantage
