Our client, a highly successful organisation in the electrical manufacturing industry, has an exciting opportunity for a Buyer to join their team.

Based at their offices in Watford (although working from home at the moment due to current situation), the role will support the operations function of the business in delivering quality equipment that exceeds individual client requirements. The successful candidate will also be responsible for maintaining an up to date list of approved suppliers and ensuring that suppliers are assessed as appropriate to meet their supply chain obligations.

This role is the sole buying role for the business, and it is expected that the right individual will have the opportunity to grow and develop the role. In return, our client offers a great working environment and excellent benefits.

Duties include
* Place daily purchase orders with suppliers using Concur
* Draft and issue sub-contract orders where required
* Ensure relevant paperwork and a customer credit line is in place prior to purchase of high value/customer specific products
* Collaborate with production management to ensure equipment is delivered 'just in time' to ensure no gaps in production and minimal inventory holding/work in progress
* Negotiate pricing/terms with suppliers as necessary
* Engage with suppliers on new product offerings and facilitate demonstrations for engineering staff
* Review supplier purchase orders and liaise with them over timely delivery as required
* Liaise with and build relationships with suppliers
* Maintain list of accredited suppliers, add to where required and remove where necessary. In addition liaise with suppliers on completion/update of supplier accreditation packs
* Liaison with finance function to ensure smooth management of suppliers and supply chain

* Previous experience in purchasing
* Is able to organise, prioritise and has a proactive approach to tasks
* Has excellent communication and relationship building skills
* Good attention to detail and accuracy
* Can proactively identify areas where current processes are flawed and find ways to address them
* Is able to perform well under pressure and deliver to deadlines
* Shows flexibility and can adapt to the needs and demands of different groups, situations and internal stakeholders.
* Good numeracy and literacy skills
* Good communication skills
* IT literacy - particularly Microsoft Office.

Desirable Skills/Experience:
* Purchasing experience within a manufacturing / technical environment desirable but not essential
* Previous experience of using Concur and/or Pegasus Opera III desirable but not essential
