Customer Services Manager

Salary: £25,000 to £33,000

Job Type: Permanent, Full Time

Our client, a small but well-established organisation, is looking for a diligent Customer Services Manager to manage a busy team of 5 (in an office of 20 staff) and work closely with the sales, logistics and accounts teams to ensure that the business runs effectively. Previous experience as a Customer Service Manager will be required as this is a demanding role.

As it's a relatively small team the successful candidate will need to be involved in some elements of the teams jobs e.g. managing a large order or helping cover when people are sick or on holiday.

Our client is offering a salary of £25k - £33k depending on experience plus excellent benefits.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To provide an escalation point within the department for staff and for customers
  • To support senior management in delivering the company's policies and procedures
  • To ensure that staff members are adhering to the company code of conduct and HR procedures
  • To understand where errors are being made in the department and look to understand training needs, or the staff development needed, to improve the overall customer service performance
  • To ensure the company SLAs are met by all staff
  • To carry out bi-monthly 1-2-1s with each member of the Customer Services department
  • To reward people that perform well, develop them, and ensure that management are made aware of the great work the team are doing
  • To maintain discipline within the Customer Services department and liaise with staff when things are not done correctly, or when company procedures are not followed
  • To support senior management in staff recruitment and to conduct interviews

  • Be willing to assist others and have a helpful and collaborative working style
  • Have excellent communication skills, on all levels
  • Able to work under pressure to achieve deadlines

Skills to be learnt over time:

  • To build knowledge of the central database system
  • To build knowledge of the company's suppliers and be able to work with the team to ensure that they use the correct suppliers
  • To have a good working knowledge of the company website and be able to confidently demonstrate it and help customers with queries
