Part Time Medical Secretary - 15-20 hours p/w

Our client, a friendly doctor's surgery in High Wycombe, is looking for a bright and personable Medical Secretary to join the team on a part time basis working 15 - 20 hours per week.

The main purpose of the role is to provide audio typing, secretarial and admin services to the Practice assisting the Doctors and Senior Management.

Strong audio typing skills and MS Office skills are essential for this role.

Experience working within the NHS and with EMIS would be an advantage but not essential and full training can be given.

Key Responsibilities:

* Using the Dictaphone machine, type confidential referral letters from the Doctors to Hospitals and other agencies
* Upload referral letters to various websites (choose and book) and send referrals via email, fax
* Maintain log of referral letters and participate in audit Type other general patient based letters and surgery documents as required
* Provide typing and other administrative support to the Practice Manager, and other senior management team members
* Set up referral templates within the clinical database, and maintain and update standard letters and forms used in the Surgery.
* Invoice agencies for work carried out
* Liaise with Hospital and other agencies about referrals and appointments
* Organise meetings, prepare agendas and take minutes
* Update and maintain our document storage system, including address book with new number/addresses if required
* Prepare medical insurance reports following the Practice Protocol agreed by the GP Partners


Key Skills:
* Good clear and confident communicator
* Strong audio typing skills
* Computer literate -working knowledge of Microsoft Office
* Ability to work as a member of a team
* Ability to work under pressure and to prioritise
* Sense of humour
* Experience of secretarial work
* Ability to be flexible with hours to cover holidays and sickness
