PR and Communications Officer

Salary: £28,000 DOE

Job Type: Permanent, Full Time

Our client, a well-established non for-profit company, is looking for an experienced PR and Communications Officer to join their busy team. The role holder will be responsible for delivering the PR strategy in order to raise awareness for the client. The role holder will also support the Communications Manager to create and deliver website content for external audiences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Raise awareness of the client and their services
  • Serve as the client's primary contact for media professionals
  • Build and maintain a list of media contacts, including editors, journalists and influencers
  • Develop a regular flow of news stories and PR opportunities
  • Raise the profile of the CEO, chairperson and members of the leadership team
  • Support key themes, announcements and events with tactical PR activity
  • Serve as brand guardian to find any instances negative or inaccurate coverage and identify avenues for response/correction
  • Support internal communications to employees to support engagement levels

Key Skills:

  • Educated to a degree level, ideally in a media, marketing or communications discipline
  • Relevant communication qualification - CIPR membership or equivalent
  • Minimum of three years' experience in a similar role, either agency side or in-house
  • Experience of handling crisis communications skills
  • Experience of working for a charity or membership organisation
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office
  • Existing network of press contacts and influencers
  • Excellent communication skills, on all levels
  • Proactive approach to tight deadlines
  • Customer-focused
