Our client is looking to employ an RF Regulatory Technician to fulfil an exciting and varied role in a light engineering environment, to provide engineering support and manage international Type Approval projects as part of the technical team.

This position is dual-natured and balances both a key administrative element, coupled with a strong and practical technical role. This position is therefore ideally suited to someone with a technical / engineering background who enjoys applying their knowledge to deliver excellent results in a business environment.

The company is a small, dynamic and highly successful technology services company, with an international client base. They are an industry leader in Type Approval of radio products and work with governments and test laboratories in over 150 countries.


  • Preparation and submission of Type Approval application files to government regulatory Authorities
  • Tracking status and driving the Type Approval process to ensure deadlines are met
  • Assisting with customer enquiries and research and providing day to day support for customers and our internal account managers on a range of radio type approval and technical matters
  • Review technical product documents (such as test reports, circuit and PCB layout diagrams) to ensure they are suitable for Type Approval and product certification applications
  • Prepare and pre-test engineering samples before they are shipped to overseas test laboratories
  • Verify and supplement the test instructions sent by our customers, so that they are targeted for their intended audience and can easily be understood by non-native English speaking engineers and technicians
  • Support formal testing at overseas type approval test laboratories, as needed
  • Manage and support international research projects on new technologies
  • Provide support, training and leadership to type approval project managers and coordinators on technical matters


  • Educated to bachelor's degree (or equivalent level) in an Engineering or Physical Sciences Discipline (Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science etc), or a minimum 2 of years' experience in a similar role
  • Have excellent command of English languages (both written and spoken), other languages will be a bonus
  • Be driven, flexible, proactive and enthusiastic, with the ability to prioritise work and work under pressure
  • Be practically minded and enjoy 'hands-on' practical work
  • Have excellent relationship building skills
  • Be able to work under own initiative and as part of a team
  • Good knowledge of computers and MS Office Professional suite
  • Excellent communication skills and problem solving abilities
  • Be familiar with, or willing to learn conformance testing for modern radio data-communication technologies (e.g. Wireless LAN (Wi-Fi), Bluetooth, RFID, Zigbee, GSM, UMTS, LTE etc)
  • Experience with EU / FCC Directives (e.g. Radio Equipment Directive) is advantageous
  • Interest in troubleshooting computers and networking hardware and software is advantageous
  • Willing to travel internationally (<10% of the time)
