Our client, based in Bourne End, is looking for a Web Developer and Designer to join their team.

This is a brand new role and will work alongside the IT Manager at first and then be given their own projects to manage.

The main focus of the role will be to merge two existing websites into one new website using the WordPress platform and WooCommerce (ecommerce) plugin. The candidate will be required to continue with work already done for the new website and apply their own ideas and techniques going forward.

The role will involve design, development and testing using best practice principles, identifying areas for improvement, and evaluating/testing WordPress plugins. The new website must allow customers to easily view and request detailed information about a product or solution with the ability to order certain products online.

Main Responsibilities: 

- Merge two websites into one new WordPress/WooCommerce website

- Designing site to comply with standards such as mobile readability and SEO

- Assessing potential plugins and applying custom coding where required

- Testing in a variety of web browsers, catering for mobile/tablet screens

- Applying optimisation techniques to ensure best website performance

Skills Required: 

- Experience with WordPress, WooCommerce and plugins 

- Experience with WordPress child themes, hooks and PHP functions 

- Experience using HTML, CSS, PHP 

- Knowledge of javascript, databases and MySQL 

- Future-proofing all work, catering for future system/platform updates 

- Knowledge of website security principles and SEO standards
