Bus Adverts

We started advertising in more than just the local paper!

Time for a Rebrand

In the 90’s the Bucks and Berks brand changed to Bucks and Berks Recruitment

Carnival Winners

We won the 1988 Slough Carnival, with our Chairman and our current MD on board the float!

Opening New Offices

It was during this period that John and Peter expanded the company across the Thames Valley, opening new offices in key towns.

The Growth of the Company

In the 80’s the shoulder pads got bigger as did the company.

Our Managing Director, John Hamilton took over the reins from his parents along with his brother Peter Hamilton.

Advertising Roles

New roles were advertised in the branch window or the local papers, such as the Slough Observer. Mostly secretarial and typist roles.

Swinging Sixties

The Swinging 60’s saw the mass uptake of Typewriters.

We modernised our offering, training temps to type and providing temporary staff to companies with their own typewriter.

Lorna Hamilton

Lorna Hamilton acquired the business, initially running it from her family front room in Farnham Road, Slough.

She focused on developing relationships with local businesses, and changed the name to Bucks and Berks Commercial Bureau.

Beginings

Started as ‘Bucks and Berks Domestic Agency’ working out of Wellington Street Slough, supplying maids, cleaners and cooks to large country houses and estates in the area – reminiscent of Downton Abbey!
